        Wow Woo,
they were all absolutely stunning. I'm so glad we on GC appreciate these little daily miracles around us.
So many friends and relatives that we know just don't "see" this and I feel they are missing out on something very, very special,
        Jenny

        Fabulous shots, everyone :yay:

We had a new visitor to our garden this morning. Although we're 35 miles from the sea he decided to come and visit Shineyland . The local wildlife we'ren't impressed.

Neither buzzing nor flying but just ambling along. I'd never come across a sexton beetle until I spotted this one last week while walking in the Beinn Eighe NNR.
These can scent a corpse a mile away and excavate under it to bury and then lay their eggs in it.

Not the cleverest place to make your home me thinks. They're obviously not expecting much rain.............. Or sprinklers.:WINK1: [IMG]

This has been the best day this year for the number of insects flying around in the garden. It has been very warm and there are quite a few flowers out but we've had days like earlier with not the same number as today. I sat in the Arbour with a mug of tea and there were Bees and Hoverflies every where. There were groups of 3 or 5 Bees on every plant that I could see.....quite unbelievable!!!:snork: Add to that the dozens of Hoverflies and other insects buzzing around and it gave me a "Buzz" and a grin to see that every thing seemed to be okay in the Insect World.:hapydancsmil::coffee:

It doesn't, Sheal. To be honest I've been quietly worried not only about the lack of Bees but also of Hover Flies. Last year was a good year for Hoverflies in my garden but until now, this year, they have been in low numbers. As you know I've got a reasonable amount of plants in my garden, with a lot of them chosen because of their attractiveness to Bees etc. So when you see a lack of insects you can't help but get a bit uneasy. But after today I feel a lot better about the insect life in the garden:snork::hapydancsmil:

We've had a reasonable amount of bees (lots of bee friendly plants in the garden) but nowhere near as much as usual. There have also been remarkably few wasps around but they always seem to come out when I'm doing the pressure hosing.

I've been doing that for the last week and the wasps seem to love the very fine water spray that gets kicked up. Whenever I'm hosing a lot of them land on my jacket and seem to be drinking the water. I'm not normally keen on wasps landing on me but they never bother me when I'm pressure hosing and it's quite fun to see them close up. Some bees also do the same but nowhere near as much as the wasps do.
