What's Buzzing or Flying near You Today..?? Mark 2..!!

My mint and sweet peas are alive with butterflies and bees at the moment.

The second clutch of house sparrows will be departing their nest soon. The parent birds are having a hard time just now keeping up with the incessent demands for food!

An afterthought!

This moth appears to have a survival strategy of resembling bird poo on sheets hanging on washing lines:

Handsome indeed! I've never ever seen one but can see how well the camouflage works. Though to me it looks more like caterpillar poo.

 

I wish I'd been on foot with a camera today. On my way out driving through a local glen, a heron was flying along the road heading straight towards me, it was only about 10ft above the car. Amazing!

 

About 15 years ago I had one I had one get within a about 5 feet of the windscreen and I can still remember the look on it's face as it just managed to avoid being hit (and that heron can probably remember the look on my face!)

 

That reminds me of an incident that happened to me a few months ago.
I was walking the dog down our lane when a buzzard flew over the hedge, barely skimming it and directly in my path. It saw me at the last minute with a shocked expression on it's face, backtracked on the spot and then flew off over the other hedge.
It was so close that I could hear his wings wafting air furiously as he tried to slow down and change direction. I see lots of Buzzards around here but not normally that close!
