I found this lovely little bird's nest in our barn.
Unfortunately is has been abandoned, as the eggs are cold.
I don't know what bird laid them. They are very small, about 2cm long.

A very special moment Mandy. it will stay with you for a long time.
One of my favourite bird cries - the "mewing" of a buzzard,

Possibly pigeon eggs though the nest looks rather better constructed than most pigeon nest I've seen.

I don't think it's likely to be pigeons. We don't have any here! Occasionally see a pair of collared doves, but that's all.

I'm beginning to think it's a Black redstart's nest. I've seen them going in and out over the years. The hole where I found the nest is about 10cm diameter, so that would fit.

I caught this very skittish Pied Wagtail in the garden this morning calling for it's mate. The wind was strong and he had to keep turning himself into it so he didn't get blown away. IMG_0754.JPG

Not buzzing or flying really (thank god), :yikes: but I did spot this spider (Argiope aurantia) this afternoon. I accidentally gave it a shower while watering. :heehee:

In a Exmoor, Somerset tea garden this afternoon these finches were helping to clear the tables:

I know to my cost that blackbirds like strawberries, but I've never seen them eating strawberry jam before. This youngster was on the end of our table:

I once watched a thrush raid a lady's cheese salad that she was eating. Calmly hopped in and scooped up a long mouthful of grated bits for its young. We were all thrilled and it is a pleasant memory now in my mind,
