    Young Smooth Newt Loli.:blue thumb:

Jenny the tray is small, a little too small as they still spill over it.
Busy this morning with 9 of the 10 young Siskins feeding and squabbling

The Gold finches have now found it and Sparrows have been on it too.

Wonderful pictures Strongy. I do believe that Goldfinches have adopted UK gardens en masse now. I love them, so colourful and not "pushy" like many other seed feeders.

We had more Goldfinches last winter, now it's just two or three adults and three juveniles but that may increase again in the Autumn, they definitely seem to have taken to urban life.

I modified my feeders and fitted some large pot saucers to stop spill over. I just pulled the base off the body of the feeder, put the base on the centre of the pot saucer and used a hot screwdriver to make a hole in both at the same time [a drill will do it!]. Then I used a small nut and bolt to secure them together and refitted the body of the feeder.

The birds seem to be happier with a wider base and very little seed is spilt. I actually take the spilt seed in the saucer, dry it out and reuse it. Oh, and as you can see I put several small holes in the saucer for drainage.:snork:

That is a really clever use of a seed tray, thank you Armandii,

Wonderful, wonderful shots Rusty. I think there is a sense of urgency now in the way they are foraging for pollen. The larder must be stocked if they are to survive in the hive through Winter. I believe the Drones are being given the heave-o now as there is no longer any use for layabouts.

I got back from Birmingham tonight, made a mug of tea and saw this little lot appreciating the fatballs and seed put out for them:

I do like watching them through the open Kitchen door when I can, loli, but I've not done that for some time due to being busy. So it was nice to get back after nearly two hours of driving to gaze out of the window and see them enjoying themselves! I think I've got 3 or 4 pairs of Blue Tits and maybe two pairs of Great Tits around the garden, along with a pair of Greenfinches plus the usual suspects!!!

Yes, Sheal, trying it out and trying to get used to it. I like the resolution of the lenses and the camera has a very good shake stabilisation so it stops blurring. I've also got a remote IR control for it and a wireless remote control [greater range] for it so I'll set it up one day to get close ups of the birds feeding.:hapydancsmil:
