I think that getting a narrow depth of field enhances the picture and tends to give a more 3D effect by getting a soft recession. :dbgrtmb:

Correct, Shiney and I agree with you. It's just that when you're in a situation of having a possibly too slow shutter speed for taking a pic in breezy conditions it gets a bit eye straining!!! I try to get the aperture as small as I can to get reasonable depth of field but ............all part of the fun and as I said I'm still trying to used the the new camera, which I like very much.:snork:

Here's one I took tonight in the twilight with a lot of Butterflies still feeding on what ever they can.....another Small Tortoiseshell on a Japanese Anemone.

The Peacock Butterflies are getting less in number but there are still Red Admirals and Painted Ladies around.

Oh wow, those are stunning. I've had three Pentax cameras in my time, the third one being my first digital. I really loved them (still got two of them!) but decided on a change last time I bought and now I use a Canon Powershot. Even though I've had it a couple of years I still don't understand it properly! I think I need to do a course - or possibly read the full instructions...:ideaIPB:
:heehee: Oh yes, I have plenty of those too! It's a shame, sometimes something looks great on the camera screen, then I transfer it to the PC and it's actually a bit rubbish.

we had a buzzard on the ground 1st thing this morning (don't think it was after the seeds though) Haven't got a photo, as grabbing a camera was not high on the list of priorities, on the way to the toilet!

Brief visit from a Chiffchaff, thought it might be a Willow Warbler but the short wings and dark legs were a give away.

I managed to get home tonight before the light faded and found there's still loads of Small Tortoiseshell Butterflies and Bees feeding off the flowers.

It's just so nice to see them working so hard trying to get the harvest home before the Winter arrives.

Aren't they fascinating Armandii? I would love to own a hive and have my own to talk to. I have no fear of bees at all and I am so sorry for bees when someone starts panicking and flapping! They are such brave and totally focused little things and I love their honey in my yoghourt,

Still mainly Admirals here sometimes four or five, with the odd White.

Just to prove me wrong, within ten minutes of posting the Admiral these two turned up together! Helichrysum is definitely a magnet for them.

That's disappointing Loli:frown: , we bought some specials for them, Sedum, Lavander Stoechas, Lysimachia, Echinacea and Rudbeckia although the Helichrysum seed was given to me not bought specifically for them, I just grew it to fill a space but the last month has been non stop Bees and Butterflies.
                        If I could I'd send you some!
