    Yeah thanks for the idea.
But some of my eating habits are probably different to most people.
    I've always been weird.

Returning from Motril, and an unsuccessful quest for a mechanic´s tool cupboard, my mind turned to thoughts of luncheon, and the first temptation was the café in the next mega building to the one which contained nothing I wanted.
However, I was not enjoying the merry bustle of the metropolis, and being surrounded by concrete is qualitatively different from being surrounded by mountains, so I headed off into the hills.
Approaching Lanjarón I was assailed by visions of my local bar, some ensalada, a bowl of patatas fritas and a glass or two of vino blanco.
My reverie was rudely interrupted by the knowledge that all the ingredients for this culinary indulgence were waiting for me "a casa" and all I had to do was get my nether regions into gear.

I have a way with oven chips. Throw them casually in a bowl, like you´re not really bothered, then douse them in oil, salt and pepper, and anything else that might take them by surprise, and chuck them into an oven set to "Stun" until they relent their beigeness.
(Beigeness was apparently not a word). IT IS NOW.

      So ----
Pumpkin seeds popped in a frying pan, tomato dressed with Himalayan pink rock salt and posh vinegar, lettuce (torn, not cut ... what are you, some kind of Neanderthal ?) celery chopped at the currently fashionable angle, ( choose your position on the Delia/Gordon Spectrum,) demure little salad onion, and tuna stolen from Diva´s stash.
Dressing of olive oil, lemon juice, wine vinegar and salt & pepper.
After all that messing about, I felt I had to eat it -- the chips weren´t bad.

As most of our brood have now departed, except for 1 , we are eating any odds and ends that are left over lurking in the fridge today.

We are going to have mixed salad tonight (Millionaire Salad) with coloured baby tomatoes, cucumber, red pepper, boiled eggs, cheese and ham with fresh French bread from Aldi.

We do them in the Air Fryer and they come out golden. I sometimes just have a portion of them on their own with a little salt.

We had home made gazpacho soup for lunch with herbes du maison as with everything now that herbs are growing like mad. Reading this thread has convinced me that I can not possibly survive much longer without air fryer fries and possibly some dips.

We usually parboil some chipped potatoes, then casually pour over copious amounts of olive oil plus whatever is at hand- smoky paprika can't be missed. Rosemary and garlic or occasionally harissa or cumin. Air fryerify the life out of them (I like things slightly scarred) and eat with fingers.

                Perfect :)

My deep fat fryer means I dont have to suffer oven chips, apart from changing the oil occasionally its just a matter of flicking the switch to turn it on.

I replaced mine with the air fryer because it used to take me all day to clean the baskets when changing the oil and even with a toothbrush I didn't think it was clean ... and I am not a "clean freak", ie, I don't wash fruit and veg after I have bought it (unless there is something obvious glaring at me.

Its the old thing @noisette47 was saying about barbeque grills, you dont clean them too much as they get sterilized every time you use it.

Anyway I went down the fish shop in Folkestone this morning and bought a couple of really large cod fillets, and a big smoked haddock fillet.

I was looking for Mackerel but cant seem to find any this year, last year the shops were swamped with them, I'm thinking due to brexit and covid they couldn't sell them to France.
I'm guessing things are slightly more normal now and they prefer to sell them there.

They had some herring roe (milts) there so I've got that for dinner with a baked potato and some home grown tomatoes.

Oi! It's not me that cooks on a gunge-encrusted grill! I'm just obliged to eat the results :eeew:.
Ohhhh herring roe! My Dad's favourite meal. Can't get them here...
Well, I did tomato/Mozzarella salad for lunch for a change. Shows how desperate we are for a break from Greek salad  What is the attraction of mozzarella? No, seriously.... there's more taste in my old school rubber :roflol: Probably not helped by the fact that the bottle of balsamic vinegar must be getting on for it's 20th birthday.
@Giri...now look here, when are you going to write a book? Between you and @Selleri, I could survive the winter if and when you publish  Diva....what a superb name for a cat!
