When I was 8-14 after my mother died in 1956 in New York, my sister and I lived with our aunt and uncle in Luton and we basically had a set day menu.

No cooking tonight, family meal out.

Not many places round me where we go out for a meal.
              Reason 1: no Thai restaurants
Reason 2: very few do homemade chips.

Going out for a meal only to be served oven chips or garlic mushrooms that is just breaded mushrooms with garlic bread, what's the point, might as well just go to McDonalds or KFC.

I was busy until 10 p.m. yesterday so cooked my dinner afterwards. Home made mackerel pate (made the other day) with toast followed by lamb chops with new spuds and freshly picked runners. Followed by fresh cherries.

When I had finished I then cooked a spag bol ready for guests coming for lunch today. I added a finely chopped courgette to it as we had plenty spare. Came out good. :)

Spaghetti Bolognese with added Cumin for oomph. There is always enough for two nights (not one day after the other however).

Didn't have a pud, too busy dodging the rain so that I could get my cuttings done. I was in and out like a fiddlers elbow! Worked up an appetite so may nab a crafty creme caramel now.;)
