Yes, you see the word Malagueta a lot here but the Angolans always say Jindungo. I think it depends on the maturity of the pepper. Our friends always give T'other Half a sauce labelled Jimdungo! He loves hot food, I don't, I like tasty food and my throat nor stomach can cope with it. This is not to say I do not like tasty food .. I love cumin and coriander and use them a lot. It is the same with hot liquids, he can drink down super hot tea and I cannot. We can do what our body allows or dictates.

How boring this world would be if we all like the same thing!

Last night I made a cream of mushroom soup (with coconut milk) followed by chicken livers cooked in butter with very finely chopped onions (cooked down first) and a slight dash of brandy.

This was accompanied by lightly stir fried veggies (with just a touch ginger and garlic) and mustard mash. Followed by fresh fruit salad of melon, raspberries and cherries. Mrs S also had strawberries and blueberries (I don't eat them).

BBQ'd lamb steaks with......the first home-grown jacket potatoes :yahoo: At last, potatoes with flavour! Lunches will be salad all the way now that the toms and cucs are producing. Especially Greek salad...yum!

                      Menu del dia ...

Pasta spirals set to the boil, half an onion chopped small, into my favourite cast-iron frying pan. Two large tomatoes chopped, (with skin, life´s too short), garlic, crushed on Himalayan pink salt (nothing less ... obviously) plus sage, thyme and oregano, (just in case), soy sauce, a goodly dash of vino blanco, and a grind of black pepper.
Scoop the pasta into the frying pan, stir for a while, final tasting and serve with smelly cheese.

Serve with sufficient white wine to ameliorate any disappointment.

PS, Noisette, have you tried adding raspberry essence to the vinaigrette?
It made our local pizza parlour very popular.

I can't eat much in the heat so today it was a banana shake for lunch and it will be scrambled eggs on toast for dinner. That's for me, T'other Half has grilled cheese and salami for lunch and something with pasta for dinner.

Friday here is green bin day. So I'll be eating leftovers and whatever is leftover from the leftovers will get binned and ready for pick up tomorrow. Let's see, a tube steak, a hamburger, some potato salad. Oh, and a piece of chocolate cake. :)

I've got to figure out a way to get my sodium up. So next week's eats might be a little more interesting!
