You've got me there Lori! What cut is it?

Just about to have my scrambled eggs on toast and T'other Half is having fried eggs with bratwurst.

Having prepared and sterilised 25 kilner jars of ratatouille today, that's one thing that's definitely off the menu :roflol: Turkey/pepper/courgette/shallot/mushroom and cherry tomato kebabs tonight. That takes care of the 5-a-day!

A melange of vegetables in a pesto type sauce with added cumin, with chunks of fried paneer in it to be eaten as a lunch or just for snacking.

Today shall be roast beef and all the trimmings with home made horseradish sauce - guests coming.

Well, I would not have guessed that! Turns out T'other Half knew what it was. We loved Oscar Meyer Weiners ... don't know if you get them your way. We always have hot dogs on hand for a quick lunch, use just a slice of white bread folded and add mustard.

I am about to have a slice of toast with soft goats cheese and pumpkin jam, very popular here in country eating establishments but they use home-made bread.

Oh, @Victoria, is pumpkin jam something like the pie filling?

Probably. It is served as a "cover" here with olives, whilst you are deciding on/waiting for your meal.

                Ingredients

                • 2 kg (4 1/2 pounds) pumpkin
                • 1 cinnamon stick
                • 1 lemon peel
                • 350 grams (1 1/2 cups) granulated sugar
                • 100 ml (1/2 cup) orange juice
                • Zest of one orange
                Directions
                1. Peel the pumpkin, remove the seeds and cut it into small pieces. Place in a pan with the cinnamon stick, the sugar, the orange juice, the orange zest and the lemon peel.
                2. Place the pan over low heat stirring constantly. Cook the pumpkin until obtain a creamy mixture.
                3. Reserve the sweet in a glass jar tightly closed. Serve with fresh cheese and toasts.
My sister loved it so much she made it a lot and added ginger to hers.

Yum. That would be nice added to muffin batter as part of the liquid. Would be really tasty!

Just cooked a chicken. Diva the cat loves the skin, (and anything else ) and I´ll probably have a chicken mayo sandwich for lunch, and freeze most of it for future paellas and curries.
Cats can chew a raw chicken bone, it cleans their teeth, but cooked bones are prone to splinters and can damage their insides.
While the chook cooked, I finished the wooden knife and hung it over the door, illustrating the Spanish proverb, "In the blacksmith´s house, are wooden knives."
I think it refers to a tradesman not being able to afford his own produce, I used to charge a thousand pounds for a garden bench, but no way could I afford one of those.

Chinese Beef & Onion from our favourite Chinese restaurant by the sea in Armacao de Pera (bought a few weeks ago and frozen. We shall have rice with it. We often order 3/4 meals to freeze. At 5-6 Euros per meal it is reasonable. This last time they gave us a free bottle of wine.
