This is what my borders look right now and yet I've got a Peony, a Lychnis, Geum, two Iris, an Allium, and a Ornamental Grass to go somewhere:dunno::scratch::doh:

Yep, Freddy, I agree. It was the rose that my wife and I both fell in love at a RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park near Knutsford. We decided then and there that we wanted it and so I asked the guy at the stall and pointed to the rose saying "I'll have that!!. He looked puzzled and said "is it yours?" which was followed by a lengthy period of confused conversation before I realised that that particular rose was already sold and waiting in the Creche for the owner. Luckily, there was exactly one left:yes: so I bought that and so now it has memories of my Wife. This year it has excelled itself and it flowering it's floribunda head off:hapfeet:

in the summer evening, Anthony, it does exactly that and seems to glow in the evening light in the borders. Again, it was another one that my Wife and I fell in love with when seeing it in the borders at Hidcote and so it wasn't long before we bought one it was in our borders!!:snorky:

That's a lovely story, no doubt with a hint of sadness. Thanks for sharing...
I used to have a rose that was similar, in that it was red and white. Quite popular I believe, but can't for the life of me remember the name. 'Crazy For You' puts it in the shade. Btw, what form is it?

While it says above, Freddy, that it likes heavy clay or normal soil, it is doing really well in my light sandy soil and looks very happy next to Rose "Trumpeter".

Yep, a shrub/bush rose getting to a height of around 4', Freddy.:coffee::snorky: It is one of the few roses where I would break a habit of not recommending any plant and definitely would recommend this one, particularly as it is one not commonly seen.:snorky:
