Minus 2 overnight. Most of the other brugmansias etc were packed into the greenhouse yesterday, not enough room for this the biggest brug

Isn't it sad? It will pull through though, if you can dry it off. Even stored under a roof with fleece the roots survive -5C. Do you do cuttings, John?

Yes the cuttings I took last year are still flowering and in the greenhouse. They are about 4ft tall so they will be OK. I just couldn't fit the parent plant in my greenhouse anyway. Last winter I put it in at 45 degrees.

Mine was over 7ft high and I hacked it back to about 5ft, took off a lot of lower growth as well, I've cut bigger ones back in the past, they just get stored leafless and pretty dry in dingy garage.

I didn't have any success keeping them in UK as by the time I had to chop them there was too much humidity and the cuts never healed, just rotted. Doesn't seem to be a problem here. If stems do die off during winter, they're dry and hard and can be pruned out in spring. Still not had any luck keeping one going in the ground, though.
