    I regret I was so taken by the Bomarea that I never took a closer photo.

      Sorry @pete I have only just seen this, my Campsis over four years now and about 7ft high but it is sandy soil, at the back of the border which is on a slope so it is very dry. It has produced a couple more flowers now but not exactly stunning.

              That's nice! How confident are you about its hardiness?

              @longk
              Not overly confident, although I have been told it should be alright with a good mulch. Some advise lifting and treating like a dahlia tuber which is what I may do this winter.

                  This Abutilon hybrid has produced naff all in the way of growth since the seed was sown in April yet has had the cheek to bloom!

                    Like the Cassia @noisette47 especially, is it hardy?

                    Your Erythrina crista galli looks very different to mine.
                    Could yours be Erythrina x bidwillii
                    Mines doing its usual, wants another two weeks of sun to come out.:frown:

                    @pete The Cassia's hardy and self-sows. Have you tried Lagerstroemia from seed? Every year the seed pods look so promising but I don't get around to them in time.
                    I thought the flowers on the Erythrina look more tubular, too, no wide bottom petal, but it was labelled crista-galli:dunno:
                    @longk It seems to be characteristic of the malvaceae, this flowering young...the tens of self-sown Hibiscus syriacus in the garden flower in their second year which is handy for deciding where to transplant them :biggrin:
                    I wasn't going to join the seed swap again as it seems to complicate things sending the parcel overseas, but I've got so many seeds I'd like to share.....and the results from the fresh seed I received in the past put seed Companies to absolute shame.

                      I seem to remember growing a similar Cassia at one time, it died first winter.:frown:

                      The Lagerstroemia plants that I have are from seed, only one type seems to flower, the pink one, it's never produced seed pods for me.
