What's looking Exotic in 2020

It's Tillandsia cyanea variegata, there are two, one out of view but both offsets had virtually no roots last autumn but one is coming into flower already!

 

Is growing Tillandsia in a pot the way to go then, I thought most were so called Air Plants.

I've never seen a red one.

 

That's how T cyanea is usually sold as it is the only massed produced one. Others seem to be sold loose, in small glass jars or glued to shells.
It is redder than normal but it has a thin yellow stripe through the middle of the leaf, the other one , in bud, is greener.
