Not really exotic, but I like the big leaves from stooling Paulownia tomentosa (Foxglove Tree) with Oleander behind:

Lovely @JWK . I love the pawlonia leaves, but I must admit I like the flowers on unstooled ones too.

Is that that yam with the gloriosa John?
The gloriosa looks good, is it usually that good outside?
It looks a stronger plant and the flower colours look different to the ones I used to have.

Yes it's your Yam @pete  - it likes to romp along my fence, it grows about 8 meters long.

First time growing gloriosa for me, so it might be a one off. I didn't plant in the spring as I'd read on here it must have lots of heat, then I forgot all about it until 20th June. I re-discovered the pack in my spare room under a pile of stuff, it was in the dark - 4 tubers in a poly bag with dry vermiculite, starting to sprout:
              20200620_090635.jpg

Planted in a bucket in in my greenhouse for a couple of weeks then outside to take their chances.

Have never had success with Gloriosa but may try again with our Jungle Room.

I guess this is sort of exotic, my Westringia brevifolia (Australian Rosemary) has suddenly burst into bloom. Last week it had a couple of flowers peeking out, and now ...

All of the above @weedaway are growing outside here except Victorias, some of hers would not thrive here.

We went to the Birmingham Botanic Gardens a few days ago and saw a couple of interesting plants. I've never seen this before - Queen of the Night Epiphyllum oxypetalum - just growing outside:

Heliconia lobster claw - in their glasshouse:

Rhodochiton atrosanguinea - used in hanging baskets:

That is growing up a lamp post in a village nearby :heehee: and I recently planted Rhodochiton atrosanguinea seeds by our Jungle Room but no results yet.

Strangely even though they had Queen of the Night flowering happily outdoors they had hardy palms like Trachycarpus growing inside their glasshouses - seemed a waste of space to me.

Was certainly worth a visit, especially at the moment if you can afford to take the risk, as they are restricting tickets so there were very few visitors.
