Sandsfoot Gardens Weymouth. I had my doubts as to whether these Washingtonias would survive. They came in to the Park nursery at 8ft high about 20 years ago. Several winters they defoliated but with the more recent mild winters they have really grown well.

I planted a smaller 3ft one when I moved here (seedling form Cyprus) but it died after several -7cs in the winter of 2013.

No @Victoria I supervised the Parks nursery and grew the plants for it and the whole of Weymouth and Portland (1987/2012) sadly 75% of all flower beds are now shrubs or perennials.

Calothamnus quadrifidus, worth the three year wait? not really, maybe if it flowered as it should but the winter weather may have affected it's flowering potential. Both plants have only two or three flowers so far but there could be more coming, the flowers are only on one side hence it's name One Sided Bottlebrush.

Calothamnus quadrifidus, I seem to remember buying one of these some years ago and being told by the seller it was hardy.
                    I lost mine first winter.

I kept one in the greenhouse and one outside, that one suffered a few burnt ends but took a few -3cs. A one sided bottlebrush looks odd. The flowers are stiff and leathery unlike Callistemon.
I wonder if my Hakea will eventually flower, it is now 6ft high. Came from the same packet of seeds I bought in Oz.

Sounds like another of those Australasian plants that performs poorly over here. I once grew a Metrosideros umbellata (a New Zealand native) that in five years tossed out just one poor excuse of a cluster of flowers. I gave up on it.

Ismene x festalis used to be quite exotic but everyone seems to grow them now............
