Very kind LongK - but ..... space.

Pete - S. quintoense - never knew there was a thornless variety. The foliage is superb.

I have Googled A. Calidora a bit more. There is a dwarf form, and its possible that this form is sold in this country as a houseplant. Shoot says Alocasia 'Calidora' (Elephant's ear 'Calidora') will reach a height of 1.8m and a spread of 1m after 5-10 years.

Davesgarden quotes them in Missouri growing to 18 feet outside. Other sites say the less light they receive the bigger the leaves grow, and also they grow bigger if the humidity is higher. But like you I suspect that temperature is key.

Your Iochroma australe, as LongK, says is quite spectacular. I am learning that they don't like too much heat. Most things in my garden room have done really well due to the heat, but I. australe hardly flowered at all, and none of my other Iochromas have flowered either.

Fabulous leaf size, mine are pot-bound and not looking anything like as bold as that

I have some spares, probably small enough to post. Only thorny ones though.

Again - very kind Kristen - but I have this problem of no more space. If you could put some space in the post - I would definitely say yes. :snork:

I googled pictures of "mezzanine garden" for you. Turns out there are no good photos, so you can blaze a trail :heehee:

This might help during planting-out time though :)

Pete - for all my "no space", yes please I really would be interested. That foliage on yours was really impressive.

I'm getting into SA bulbs in quite a big way, so hopefully in a year or two I'll have plenty of new things to show.

Pete - thats very kind - but leave it for a year or two. I hadn't really taken in the fact that your plant is so small. And anyway I must kill something off before I have space - though you wouldn't think that would be a problem.
