It grows quite fast, just only have two main shoots at the moment, it will probably bush out a bit now I've taken the one top shoot out, so probably have a few possible cuttings in a couple of months.

This is looking good, and will be taking its chances next winter.

A winter like the last one, and I think it will make it, kind of minus 2 min and it would pull through with a bit of damage, minus 5 and its probably a gonner.

Seed from @Victoria , I should add, a few years ago.

Its one of those plants that looks rubbish all winter in a cold garage, but the new growth in spring really shines.
I think it could be pot grown for years.

Callistemon Masotii, dwarf plant with lax habit so some flowers rest on the ground. It would look better raised, edge of a rockery perhaps.

                  Strongy - nice Callistemon. [IMG]

That B. sanguinea is a very strange colour - not the normal bright red. I had exactly the same with one earlier - very pale and very small flowers from a plant that normally had full sized red flowers. Mine has not flowered since - so I think it took the hump when I told it off. :snork:

I have only had the plant a few months Peter, so I wasn't sure what to expect.
It's one that is scentless but will look more effective when taller. I have just acquired (and repotted) a bigger white one, probably Candida which hopefully will have bigger and scented flowers.

Might be my imagination, but I found B. sanguinea flowers had much more definition between the red and the yellow when grown at lower temperatures.
In other words, late autumn flowers tend to be brighter in colour rather than those bourne in early summer.

This was my thought too - Pete. The difference in colour of my B. sanguinea flowers was very pronounced. I have often wondered if this could apply to other flower types as well.
