Magnolia Susan does look rather dark - it was overcast and the camera didn't capture it very well (also made my Malus Royalty flowers look purplish when they are in fact pink).

Taken just now in sunlight ...

I have those also Shiney, and always forget the name. My neighbor who is good with plant names remembers it for me. I think it starts with an "E". Mine are blooming now also, have the red variety.

It's lovely to see all your gardens bursting into bloom. :dbgrtmb: Half of mine is still in the greenhouse waiting for the weather to warm up and the other half outside is sulking. @ARMANDII I can't believe your Solomon's Seal is in bloom, mine is still underground.

I always keep an eye out for them, Sheal, but to be honest I think they're a couple of weeks early this year. But perhaps it's not a bad thing as I always have to keep an eye out for the Sawfly caterpillars which can decimate the plants overnight. They're just about opening the flowers now and I just love them.:hapydancsmil::heehee:

and the humble Spring border bits and pieces. The primroses, both in the garden and in the wild, seem to be lasting a long time this year - which is a lovely gift from Mother Nature

Thanks Armandii for identifying the ....... things which strip my Solomn's Seal in a flash. I knew it was catapillers having seen the damned things but didn't know what variety. To be honest I have dug up and thrown away the majority of mine as the now identified Sawfly problem was dire. I was left with a few bare stalks in hours! Is there anything to combate the problem?
