Yeah, a bulb which throws up leaves but no flowers is called "blind". You most commonly hear about it when the bulbs aren't planted deeply enough or are overcrowded.

          Weird!
Could it be soil based or weather based do you think? :noidea:

Weather I think. They came up on time which was actually still rather cold and they are very exposed.

              Ahh - yes - thanks everyone !

It all comes back - I was thinking more snakes head fratillary size when I ordered / planted them but it seems to have worked out ok. I do need to move the bird feeders for next year though otherwise one of the clumsy pigeons is going to land on one & squash it !

This one is not mine, it belongs to my allotment landowner. I haven't seen him recently to confirm the name but I think it is a Mountain Pepper (Tasmannia lanceolata)

Some spring colour in my garden at the moment.

The forsythias are doing their thing. There are three of them down that side of the garden. We've been here 27 years now, they were already established when we moved in, I've pruned them fairly hard after flowering every year and they're still going strong.

Polyanthus 'Crescendo Orange' planted in a dense clump, brightening up a shady spot.

When I sit in this chair with a cuppa, the scent from those hyacinths is simply wonderful. :)

What's looking good in April? Certainly not this bed in my back garden, it's had a 4ft deep trench dug in it today ready for the electricity cable to be buried. Oh what a mess and the telegraph pole still has to be taken out too!

The reason that my young plant flowered early is due to my indecision about where in the garden to plant it. As a result, it has been staying in a pot. To avoid its fleshy roots freezing over the winter, I put the pot in the unheated greenhouse, and that gave it an earlier start compared to yours in the ground.

@strongylodon how hardy is the Caronilla?
