Just beginning to tidy up the beds in the back garden.

Ben busy picking rhubarb and setting up bean canes and sweetpea canes

One of our pheasants. At first we thought he was just admiring himself as he looks in the glass a few times a day but we now think he is seeing an invader as he then rushes round the back of the summerhouse to find him. Thicko!!! :heehee:

I have never seen those before. They are so pretty and delicate.

Just keep in mind those others have Staff.

we estimate we have ruffly 500 Thousand bulbs. not only daffs, but counting snowdrops, and cocoas, and early blue ones things, starts with an S Our job now is to rotate through the grouping and lift, separate and replant to keep the blooms doing well each year, no need to buy more. And one more group is just now budding up, so in a week. Then come the Canterbury bells, and alliums. of course more flowing shrubs, hydrangeas and hostas.

My worry as I age, who will care about all this when I am gone.

I worry about not being able to cope with my rather challenging garden as I get older. Especially if my knees go. But I just know that whoever has the house after me will cut all the trees down, including two fully mature silver birches which will scare any new buyer to death because they are "taller than the house". I'd rather stay in the house and let it all revert back to bramble than let that happen.

I have the same noticed. My Vibernum used to flower the first time in January, the second year in February and now in its 3rd year, in April. The entire garden smells like that and bees are crazy for it. The sunshine obviously does something because it doesn’t get any sunshine in winter.

Hostas are starting to look good, some might need repotting. I’ve managed to dig about half a meter of a new border - there was more rubble than soil so I’m a bit disheartened. I might use the broken bricks and stones to make a path. It’s good it’s spring and I can look forward to new growth and flowers.
