Whats Looking Good August 2022

Yes, I'll expect a 'sniff ' report tomorrow. I haven't had a lot of sunshine here this summer, it's been mostly cloud which is perhaps why they are in limbo. Still green and healthy but not growing.

 

Sounds good , being green and healthy is the main thing.
I really didn't expect to get blooms this year, I think it was our extreme heat that encouraged a bit of a growth spurt.

Here are some photos of the small patch I created on the old driveway into what was the garage.
I 'tidied' it yesterday after some shade came from the trees in the hedgerow opposite ... rearranged the pots and took some away because they'd gone too dry, weeded, cut some old brown leaves off the Hellebores growing in the ground, 'thinned' out some of the tangled Clematis and Fuchsia stems at the back etc, and then sat on the wall with a cuppa and my furry friend (seen lying by the wall which has not been painted properly yet)



In the above photo you can see the old garage (now a place where I do pottery and painting etc) and you can see the entrance into one of the perspex shelters, the one on the north side of the 'garage'

It is at the bottom of my garden, where a single track road passes by, and people go for walks along it, sometimes with their dogs, and we have a little chat, and sometimes people will stop their cars to say 'Hello' to me and Bella. Many of them ask about Bella if they can't see her around.
I've given away many cuttings and received some too

What a beautiful space you have created Michael and such a kaleidoscope of colours and textures. You have an amazing variety, not including your cactus and succulents. I honestly don't see how you keep up with it all ... oh, of course, you have Bella to help!

I remember you have the walkway under the Roses/Fuchsias but do you have a garden on the other side of the bungalow?

 

Yes I've got a car but I park it at the front of the house. It's easier than walking up the garden in the rain.
Also when Beryl became disabled and had to use a wheelchair it was easier for the car to be at the front.
It's only a small cul-de-sac and everyone parks at the front, and we all respect our parking places.

 

There's a small front garden @Victoria, then the house, then a long back garden which I usually show photos of, then the garage, then the patch I created.

Oh Michael what an amazing garden you have!! I'm at a loss for words. There's not a weed in sight either !!! You must have a fulltime job keeping up with watering all your pots, especially so in this hot dry spell we're all having.
I love your front garden too ...adore that Hosta.

Bella is a lucky cat to have such a beautiful space to roam.

Oops sorry @Sheal , meant to post earlier. No, I can't detect any fragrant whiff at all. I tried at various times during the day in case the build up of heat/ sun may have an effect. Is it suppose to have a scent?

 

Thanks @Upsydaisy. I didn't know whether it had a scent or not, but I suspected not. It's a native wild flower of American origin and as with many wild flowers, they tend not to be scented.

 

Thanks ,Ok all is as it should be then. I've been waiting to snap the first butterfly or bee on it, but I think it's a case of ' a watched kettle never boils '
