What's looking good February 2024

Had a pretty mild winter down here apart from a cold snap early December only had a couple of frosty mornings and everything seems to be about a month early.

 

I have Hyacinths just coming into flower and some weather beaten polys out, but no pictures as they dont look good.
Things are earlier this year around here, even the peach blossom is coming out and my seed grown Apricot is opening its flowers.
My Camellias are not really in full flower but they are later ones, some are in flower around the area.

 

That's strange as I planted one before the freeze last year, only about 30ins tall, it was then uprooted by a fox a couple of times, I gave up and just shoved it back in and its still alive, not grown much I must say, but alive.

 

Meanwhile, mine got buried in amongst Hedychium, Cannas, Acacia and Arundo, wasn't seen for 6 months and had put on a metre when it was re-discovered

 

Lovely Sophora @strongylodon. Mine is in a pot and it doesn't look very good - tiny leaves and no flowers, and hasn't grown a mm since I planted it there. I'm afraid of planting it in the ground.

 

It was sub zero here for probably at least a week, or more, in December 22, not minus 12 perhaps but one of the coldest spells I can remember for years, I find it strange that lots of gardeners dont seem to remember it, and consider that winter as a mild one, well it was in the new year, but December had already done the damage.

 

I assume you went out and sat on it for a couple of hours, that usually sorts them out.

Sorry to hear that you lost your Sophora @shiney. Mine has come through a few bad Winters with only very minor scorch last year.
I Lost all the new regenerated growth in the half dead Acacia while we were away last month after a -6c yet Tradescantia fluminensis (house plant) survived.
