:) What a beautiful flower that is, woo.

Strongy, well done you on the Acacia but I think all of them are now banned here due to be classified as an 'invasive species'. :help:

On the other hand, I am SO jealous of your Clianthus as I can't get it going here .... :(

Cant grow it in my garden Peter, but my sister does.
I was there last weekend and her plants were full of flower and red new growth at the same time.
Draw you own conclusions, but it sounds like a bit of a tall story to me.

Sorry you lost your Clianthus, Pete, but your Acacia looks lush. :)

Was seriously tempted to buy a Pieris 'Valley Valentine' coming into full bloom this week .. such gorgeous red flowers ... never seen one before .... but I have nowhere to put it .... :(

It is SO similar to my Callistemon 'Flaming Fire' which I may ... just MAY ... get brushes on this year .... :ntwrth:

Penny, Clianthus is also known as Lobster Claw and Parrot's Bill, it doesn't always survive bad winters in the UK.

I hesitated putting my A Prav pic up Pete knowing your is much bigger:D , mine is a young'un and in a pot so will never get to the size of yours.

Vicky, I presume it is too hot for Clianthus to grow well or is there another reason?

Strongy, I think there are two elements here to my failure with Clianthus ... 1) climate, being too hot and dry in their blooming season, and 2) I can be fairly useless in the cultivation of some plants, much to my dismay. :(

Strongy - I love your pictures- especially the Clianthus.

Pete - I think you are probably right about the flowers on Pieris.

Thanks Strongy......i will have to look for that here, but if it doesnt survive your winters, there is NO chance that it would here, when our temps dip down to -45 during the day!!
