What's Looking Good in April 2022

I waited for the sun to burn off the frost before taking photos but was just a tad too early for this dark purple leafed Ajuga


Some more of our primrose family. A lot of them are still just starting to produce flower buds whereas others are in full strength. We had a wander round the garden trying to get a rough calculation of how many we have, including the masses in the wild area, and we guess that it's nearer 3,000 than 2,000

The frost had, more or less, gone by the time I got to them














Erythronium

 

Our more sheltered Euphorbia mellifera has just started blooming whereas the much larger but less sheltered one has not the slightest sign of a bloom


The flower will eventually have about a 5" - 6" diameter


Maidenhair fern just waking up


One of our many lilacs that has colour from the Clematis that grows through it. The Clematis continues to flower for a long time after the lilac blossom has finished


Viburnum tinus just starting


Exochorda 'the bride' is also just starting and will look glorious in a few weeks


Skimmia, in deep shade, just starting


Can't remember the names of these two tulips as the birds have pulled the labels out of the pots! I'll see whether I can find them

I didn't need to find the label as I just asked the oracle. She's always right
