Whats Looking Good In April

Balmy of course @wiseowl I wouldn't be so rude as to think if the alternative. Hope yours are not ruined, frost is such a destroyer of lovely things which flower at this time of the year.

Not sure that I remember having a double though
It was in the greenhouse all winter and several weeks ago I noticed the flowers emerging. Since then it has been outdoors except for the cold nights that it has spent in the porch. It would have been looking stunning now but on Sunday I woke up to this...............

 

Noooooooo, who is responsible for that!!?? It's normally a child or dog in my house.

I know own it feels, last year my son, 3 at the time, cut of all the flower buds on my tulips!! All of them!!!

Poor you @longk . What with this and your iris being munched you don't even need the frosts to cause havoc!
Before my camera died I took photos of a few things before they may well get a hammering from the artic weather.
The 1st photo is of Berberis Orange Rocket. It's really red (brighter than in the photo) and stays this super colour all season. Slow growing and good for a small gardens. I have a huge 1 so got 3 plants. Apart from being a bit susceptible to powdery mildew it really is a lovely newish variety and brings great colour to the garden between end of March and end of October.

Really only took this photo today as reckon it will be a sorry mess from frost by tomorrow. I have another 3 like this all about to be stunning but likely to not be.

It just moved away from the cold window and toppled over.

I've found that cutting their hands off usually puts a stop to that mallarky

My own silly fault. I know that the flower heads follow the sun and so I should have figured out that they move away from the cold too.

Sorry to hear about your Hippeastrum. We've got a double white that has been outside since January and is just starting to produce a flower stem. It's surprised me as I thought they normally flowered about June if unforced.

 

I was surprised as well. That said I have bought it in to the porch when frost is predicted.

 

A quick wander round the garden this evening. Despite the late, cold spring there are plenty of plants flowering now.

Glad you posted that @Trunky I have a pair of standard bays and the label states they are good pollinators but I've not seen any flowers on either of mine At least I know what to look for now

 

Mines flowering for the first time, nice little flowers close up.
