The primula look stunning. Similarly, mine have had quite a surge this year. Noticed the woodland varieties doing particularly well, and even some of those fancy ones you can get at the garden centre have seeded (although not as much). I tend to just wack the root balls in the garden when I'm finished with my spring pots. Very happy with a tray of 15 primrose I bought on sale for £1.00 at the end of spring last year. Every last one has come back, and completely bursting with buds.

I have to say the woodland variety is my favourite with the cream flowers and golden centre.

Lovely plants and colour, folks :dbgrtmb:

Another week has gone by and the warm weather is helping everything progress well.

The Katsura is starting to come into its own

The epimedium is opening more flowers and starting to show its heart shaped leaves

This is Waldsteinia turnata (not a buttercup) and is an evergreen ground cover plant that is happy anywhere with well drained soil. It is good under trees where the soil is dry and poor

The exochordas are starting to flower and they look as though they are going to be magnificent this year

On the edible side the rhubarb is doing well and I sold about 20lb the other day

and the black plum blossom has come out

Our 'fairyland' has over a dozen large areas of multi coloured primroses, primulas and cowslips

The alpine gardens that Mrs shiney has made for sale are starting to flower

Our late flowering magnolia has decided to start early this year

Jazmine, that name was given to it a few years ago by a lttile girl.

The cowslips etc (mainly cowslips) cover an area of approx 1,000 sq ft. One of the local garden centres has asked for some of the more unusual coloured cowslips. So I shall drop some off when I take an advertising poster for the open day (I suppose I should call it 'open days' or 'open weekend' but it doesn't sound quite right).
