Mrs Shiney was given them about 20 years ago, or more, by someone who was breeding them. Over the years they have crossbred with the yellows and with primroses. So now we have all the varieties in all the colours :heehee:

She sells some at our Open Day but I don't know where to buy anywhere else.

All the flowers in the pictures in this thread are beautiful. I can get quite emotional at the beauty that flowers portray.

I'l put your order in :blue thumb:. I hope she has some as a lot of the cowslips that were potted up didn't survive the winter. We'll have to see which ones survived when they flower - haven't done so yet.

It's a slow growing "well behaved" evergreen Shrub, Sheal. I've had it since the 90's [or maybe the late 80's:scratch:] and it's now 5' in height by 4' in width. It's a cracking Shrub with a lovely sweet scent that will bring a smile to your face when the air is warm. It has stood the test of all the Winters that's been thrown at it and never had any problems. It's certainly worth considering and you don't often see them in gardens, although I don't know why.:coffee:

Thanks Armandii, it's now on my wants list unless of course you have it in a pot. :)

I'm gradually losing interest in maintaining plants in pots, so if it doesn't like a sandy soil it's a non-starter. :)

Well, as you know, where I live there is 300'-400' of sand under my House and Garden so an Osmanthus will have no problem with your soil, Sheal.:hapydancsmil:
I'm not keen on growing medium sized Shrubs or above in pots anyway as they take a fair amount of care to get the best out of them.:dunno::snork:

This is my Fritiallaria Imperialis that I planted under the[much smaller then] Lilac over 20 years ago and which is now a clump of four plants.
