I too love that cottage garden look. In Silves (the old Moorish capital here) they did one large island with cottage garden flowers in the Spring and it was spectacular ... never had my camera with me as I was just going grocery shopping. :dh:

Yummy pears, Woo, bet they taste delicious.

I love your Cottage Garden bed, Freedom Spark, just the thing that I would have.

You seem to always have a green thumb for getting your cactii to bloom, Pete, well done. Your Exacum affine is a popular house plant over here. I've had it several times and it lasts for a good while.

Pete, I used to grow a lot of Exacums for the Palm House but they were prone to wilt/collapse so I stopped but yours look fantastic.:gnthb:

My favourite 'weed' Begonia Grandis Evansii, grows everywhere.

I'm glad some of you experienced gardeners like my little cottage garden experiment :D I wonder if some of the flowers such as the poppies will self seed?

Here's a close up of the Calendulas, I grew them last year - the first flowers I ever grew from seed & I really loved the colour so I added them to the cottage garden corner . I also spotted a couple of crocosmia which I planted last year, I thought the bulbs had rotted but apparently a few survived.

Sutherlandia frutescens seed pods - yes its a member of the pea family.

A bit of engineering - Geranium maderense stem. The weeds are there simply to give an idea of the size - no other reason of course. :D Its a 35 litre pot.

Oh, your Cottage Garden pics look even nice close-up, Freedom Spark, and the first one would make a lovely picture to hang on the wall. Well caught!

Peter, those seed pods made me laugh as they look rather like the old-fashioned Turkish shoes. :hehe:

    Wonderful close-ups, Robert.

    Thanks for sharing everyone. :gnthb:
