I will post the names of the roses tommorow (am working there in the morning and have kept the lables on the roses .... bought them on the internet directly from the david austin site and were bare root ...

the yellow one is a climber .... strangely, I read that climbing roses seldom bloom twice a year, this one has done so for 2 years in a row

I remember the purple one .... it is actually advertised on the david austin website as a blue one .... it is supposed to start off purple, then turn to slate blue, but I have not seen the blue slate colour yet (after 2yrs) and is planted in full sun, and well fed ...

here is the link to the purple/blue one (I was undecided on this one, but opted for it as it seemed unusual) ... it is called Rhapsody in blue ... smells good and has lots of flowers, so worth considering:

The minute you said turns to slate grey i knew you were talking about Rhapsody In Blue !
it's the most gorgeous purple colour, mine doesn't fade to slate grey though - it fades to a paler purple :WINK1:
When planted in a purple border this colour looks fabulous :wub2:

You plant it near other colours in the colour-wheel though and it looks awful - dirty and grey, so keep it well away !

it's planted in a rose bed with other coloured roses ... this one is at the far end, as it's the largest of the bushes ... found an old email to david austin ....

here are a few in that bed (I bought 2 batches)

the yellow one is a climber and absolutely stunning as it makes loads of flowers ... the bed is in front of a home office, and I planted this against the wall with a red climber and a jasmine creeper

the yellow one is called Graham thomas climbing nd won a few awards:
Graham Thomas Climbing - David Austin Roses

next to the blue rose, is this one (was the david austin featured rose of the year when I bought it in 2009) ... called young lycidas and I will definately buy more of these ... very strong fragrance
Young Lycidas - David Austin Roses

next to that one, is Scepter'd Isle ... another definate must have .... won a few awards for fragrance and makes lots of flowers
Scepter'd Isle - David Austin Roses

and, next to this one, is amber queen ... I was after another rose, but they were sold out ... can however say that I am exremely happy with this one as looks really good
Amber Queen - David Austin Roses

I cannot find the email of the others, but will check on the rose bushes tommorow

in the rosebed, there are daffs, tulips, lavender at the back, lilys, and loads of other plants (it's cottage style and planted full ... no space for weeds in this bed ... a bit crowded for the roses, but they are doing well)... this bed is a focal point from the lounge/patio and always looks good ... and always smells good aswell

            :D

I wondered if anyone could help me with the photo quality. The photo quality is really clear, but somehow when I convert to JPEG I get this grainy look to my photos, I've noticed a few of you have lovely clear images. Can anyone help or suggest what I need to be doing? Lol

                  Thanks.

It's not been the best of Augusts for us but the plants do seem to have appreciated the warm, damp and cloudy weather.

one of my clients is very much into growing fruit and veg .... his greenhouse tomatoes, peppers etc are in pots, but he places the pots on growmore bags and waters the growmore and not the pots ... he says this forces the roots to grow .... seems to be working though, as all the plants/fruits look very healthy
