What's Looking Good in August 2014

I have some suckers on mine that are getting a bit wayward. I'll put your name on them when I pot them up, in case you have a space?

That's not good. If it was a container plant make sure the original pot's rootball is well watered, because if the roots have not ventured out of it yet / much then that rootball will eb drying out quickly, and the fact that it is different compost to the soil around it will mean that water does not travel "easily" from the surrounding soil into the pot's original compost to re-wet the plant.

Water it thoroughly, but not frequently (rather than little-and-often). Twice a week should eb enough, increasing to 3 times in severe heat / drought.

 

Jack.....the Sambucus will darken as it matures, mine is in it's second year and this is how it looked in May after thinking I'd lost it last winter. It's not unusual for any plant to bloom late in it's first year.
