The species that's hardy in this country is P. caerulea and the ripe fruits (a deep orange) are edible. Green or yellow fruit will give you stomach ache and petals/leaves are definitely a no no.

The fruit you buy in the shops is P. edulis and is much more tasty.

We have about 100 fruit on ours at the moment but only three are ripe. By the end of October I hope to have about 200 ripe fruit as the season has been very good.

Yeh i have recently bought one of those along with red gables and gold flame

They are similar but the flowers are darker and redder on the dropmore scarlet. Also just looked at the leaves and they are slightly darker too.

The coral honeysuckles leaves are limier

Will be interesting to compare the two next year

Thanks Shiney! I think I will die of excitement if I ever get an edible passion fruit!
Clematis, really? I've just planted my first one but have no idea if it will make seed heads like that. I'll be very happy if it does.

I'm also loving that vibrant honeysuckle and the red flowers with the yellow tips ^

I think I'm going to have to get that... It looks stunning compared to the usual bi-colour honeysuckles

This photo is a bit lame but I like the colours from my kitchen window now the cyclamen are popping up for the second year. In the background is my so far snail damage free hosta and an acer I rescued from almost certain death in B&Q two weeks ago! It's all feeling a bit autumnal and cosy.
