A celosia variety grown from seed, which I had received from a Bulgarian forum-mate and overlooked for two seasons. Isn't it a surprise?

                          Thanks @Sheal

We're very pleased with it. We've had some glorious colour which was helped a lot by the eight different penstemon and the surprisingly floriferous ten different heucheras. The two Veronicastrums performed well and were mobbed by the bees and, now, the grasses are coming into their own. That's without the amazingly fast growth of the climbers, and even the box is growing fast.

As the soil was so depleted by 40 years of Leylandii we added a quarter of a ton of home made compost and 40 70litre bags of horse manure from a local farm. I think that had some thing to do with it :heehee:. As we've had drought for months we needed to have the sprinkler working overtime on that bed.

Just thought I'd post a photo of my good old reliable red Dahlias. The primary school janitor where my daughter was a pupil (daughter now 28yo) gave me a couple of his corms which must be at least 20 years ago. Still going strong and I've given away dozens of corms over the years. Maybe not quite as nice as Bishop of Llandaff but so reliable and always put on a great show until the 1st frosts.
