Went to Dove cottage nursery at weekend, picked up a couple of plants salvia phyllis fancy and selenium wallichanium, good nursery for plants not normally seen in GC, very nice enthusiastic bloke running the place as well . They also have a naturalistic garden , lots of grasses molina heavily used, persicaria - sanguisorba - veronicastrum something verdun I think would of liked

I've grown these petunia from seed, I would highly recommend dobies for the red and whiteish lilac petunias, the purple ones are off ebay called purple velvet still nice but not as vigorous. Excuse the lawn I sprayed it 2 week ago to be reseeded soon hopefully.

                  Hi Perki
Yes indeed....would have loved to visit there. I got a lot of plants from Dove Cottage when they had a mail order service. Shame they stopped that.
Would be like a child in a sweet shop for me :)
                  Pick up any ideas Perki?:)
Think we share similar tastes too.
                  Fantastic plants you have there:)

I pick up some planting partner ideas but I like to have a stronger more vibrant colour palette. I don't think I got a picture of it but going up the garden in like a curve they was a row of veronicastrum alba with a red sanguisorba, I don't like lines of plants but they looked really well. Also lots of actea even the green form. They seem to have lots of plants there what I had search here there and everywhere online to buy, wish I had gone sooner.

Also took a liking to some plants, especially this white persicara. He told me it will flower to the rest of the season now. DSC00002.JPG

                        Sounds great perki
I grow the white persicaria here...in front of canna tropicanna Black and behind geranium Orion.
Not keen on lines here either but the persicarias tend to arch and create an illusion of curves :)

Awoke to see it has been raining overnight. Not too heavy and everything looks fresh out there :)

It is outrageous just how heavily scented this species is!

Added a automatic watering system with Hozelock sprinklers , to our caravan planters a month ago . Plants have done really well through the hot weeks with a daily 4 minute watering .
I only plant cheap and cheerful annuals there , as I could never guarantee watering them .
Moody Blue Phlox from seed , Busy Lizzies and Lobelia from plugs.
The plants growing on the limestone chippings are self seeded violas from my spring planting . How they self seed on limestone chippings with a cinder base and very little water is amazing .
