Hebe - unknown variety that Mrs LS picked up for £3 - it looked sad for ages and then suddenly it's burst into flower

Finally, holiday. What a lovely day it was yesterday morning, when I spent hours in the garden, cleaning the bike, reading, taking pictures.

              While sitting on the bench.

That's why I wanted to have Gaura again, but I gave it this time a better position where it's less affected by the winds.

These echinacea didn’t flower last year as I thought the foliage was a weed and pulled it out during early summer. I almost did the same this year but decided to see what the ‘weeds’ developed into.

My bed of dahlias is in full flow now so I’ve loads to pick for the house, although I still hate doing that, I feel like I’m killing them :frown:

I was hoping for more water lilies this year, as I divided the one I have, but they've not been that brilliant, despite plenty of buds. Maybe next year...:)
The Borage, with the Solway Velvet Sw. peas, are doing nicely now. The sw. peas pick up the stem colour of the Hylotelephium [Sedum. s Autumn Joy] and would do the same with the foliage, but the slugs rather spoil that part!

Must take a photo of my Jap. anems too, as they're also getting into their stride now.

Lovely combination of colour @fairygirl ! Borage self seeds with me but only the blue. Typical - a glorious blue colour and I'm complaining I want white!

It [white] was very easy this year @CarolineL , and I'd been meaning to grow it for a while, and finally got round to it. I had the blue one decades ago, but I really don't like blue very much, apart from the reddish/purply ones, so I've not grown it since the 90s.
I doubt it'll self seed because it's quite hard for anything to self seed successfully here, but I'll just grow it from seed again if it doesn't. The conditions suited it for sowing this year too, and the bees have thoroughly enoyed it

I put some plants in my sandstone wall a few weeks ago. The Sedum seems happy, it's flowering. I thought the plants might be removed by birds but there's lots of Sorbus berries around to keep them occupied :).

Considering the fact that a part on the right side is empty - currently under recreation aka construction- I gave with my pictures an impression that there is still something to see. Next year will be better :)
