Long stem pelargonium, very good for cutting. This variety is one of my hybrids and I really like the strong, dark stems and large flowers.

Amaranthus still looking quite good but the leaves aren't coping with the hot sun

We have had to take down most of our hanging baskets which are also not doing well in the sun even though they have been watered at least twice a day
      upload_2024-8-16_7-30-39.jpeg

      Doing OK :blue thumb:

This Hibiscus appeared to be dying so we have put the hose on the ground under it for an hour every other day this week and it is recovering somewhat and started blooming. The buds had been dropping off.

In comparison to plants suffering we dug this Fuchsia out 'completely' five years ago as it was growing rampant. Nothing showed for three years then last year there was a small recovery showing in the ground and suddenly this year it's back.
      upload_2024-8-16_7-30-39.jpeg

We thought we had lost this in the freeze of 2022 and nothing showed until this summer. :blue thumb:

Fennel seed will be ready soon

I'm glad @shiney that you still have something to look at in your desert of garden. I'm so sorry to see your pictures in the Weather thread, which remind me on my garden in 2022, when I literally could put my arm into such crack. I wondered how my plants still survived from getting just once a month water for an hour (I pretended to be the rain woman).
I have the similar in my garden in one or two places, but by no means to what I had 2022.

As mentioned, the right side of the bigger bed along the greenhouse and where the raised beds are needed a redesign in order to create a new path to take care of the plants from all sides without entering the soil in the beds.
I had taken out the part in the back and prepared it in advance. I went to a garden centre nearby this morning and found two plants which are just to my taste: Perovskia Blue Spire in the background and Helenium Moerheim Beauty in the foreground. And I left enough space between them and the others!

        20240816ourgarden_01.jpg

While visiting Avebury Manor Garden, I saw their Perovskia and how it fells over and I came home and had put the support in place before it's too later next year. At Avebury, the Perovskia was covered in bees.

Oh Michael, I love that photo, so delicate. I hope you don't mind but I copied it ... just in case I take up painting again. I truly think you should do it as a watercolour. Beautiful.

Thanks @Victoria, I'm pleased you like the photo and I don't mind you copying it at all. Maybe it will inspire you to start painting again

This is a new addition which I bought last week to fill a gap. It's Anemone Royal Blanco. It looks like A. Honorine Jobert, but with purple markings on the reverse of some petals, a bit like A. White Swan on much longer stems. I'm hoping it won't lean!

They're lovely @Victoria, My grandmother had these on her windowsill, she used to give mee some bulbs to grow myself. The one I've got now is what I sent for on line and it's very small at the moment but I'm hoping it will grow to flowering size in a year or two.
I can't get used to their new name and still call them Valotta.
