Pot it up next year Joolz.
If it had been imported from the far east its seasons would have been all mixed up.

They're big boys when they bloom............

It's reasonably hardy but not totally. So, if planting outside it will need a bit of shelter or winter mulching. Ours survives outside with no trouble but I think you may be a little bit colder than us.

It prefers a sunny spot in fairly dry soil (doesn't like getting its feet too soggy). When it gets to flowering it may get quite smelly for about 24 hours so it's usually recommended not to be planted by a window or the path to your front door.

Hi @joolz68 *waves from the back*

I had one of those turn up in my garden last year and had a whole thread on it! I first posted when I noticed it popping up out of the ground on 1st April (and, trust me, it turned out to be no joke - as you may discover :heehee: ) and it was in flower by the time I set off for shineyland - Jenny had the pleasure of seeing the flower in all its glory :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Can't advise on your pot version - mine just "appeared". Good luck with it though. It has a gorgeous flower and an unforgettable fragrance :):)

Hi @"M" x:) And Thanks too @shiney for all your info, maybe im mollycoddling but ive repotted it into a frost proof clay pot as when i picked it up it roots were popping out the bottom:heehee: its still in the potting shed,i shall find a sheltered dryish spot for it in spring(ground temps permitting).
Is it grown from bulb or seed? as now i remember i actually bought it in a pot ive presumed bulb for some reason :dunno:
Cant wait to sniff it :heehee: x

You're correct, they're tubers. Best of all, once mature they offset freely.

Once smelt, never forgotten. It's the fragrance which ... lingers

:dancy: First snowdrop is out :dancy:

Okay, probably not a big deal after the mild weather we've had and clearly not as eye stopping as the garden which has a circular bed full of daffs (and has had for a couple of weeks!) but, it's *my* snowdrop, in *my* garden and ... it's lovely :wub2:

Sorry no pics again as it's chucking it down but I'm really chuffed to see my snowdrops flowering in their pot. I love them because they remind me of my Mum. I'm going to have loads of them in my new garden :hapydancsmil::hapydancsmil: :)

Amazing how a little bit of protection makes a difference. In the case of this Snakeshead Frit it saved the buds from death in the recent cold snap and all they suffered was a small amount of frost burn...............
