Lovely Sheal. My late father was a great Roses man and he maintained that however hard the breeders tried they had not managed to improve on Iceberg as a wonderfully healthy. vigorous white Rose either shrub or climbing variety. I know very little about Roses so can't make comment really on whether Dad was right or wrong but certainly you have a star in your garden Sheal!

Thanks GA and Sheal, :blue thumb:

I don't think that we intentionally designed the white theme in our garden but June/July brings them to the fore. We don't buy many plants and a lot of what we have are either given by friends who propagate loads of plants the way Mrs Shiney does (she just likes making new plants :)) or are cuttings of plants which she sees when we are out and about (she just knocks on peoples' doors and asks for cuttings).

Even the few, cheap, allium bulbs we bought to pop into a new bed were labelled wrongly! What turned out to be white allium Nigrum was labelled Christophii and the ones labelled gigantium turned out to be Christophii. Can't complain as the dozen bulbs cost just £2 :blue thumb:

We had iceberg for decades and it was an extremely profuse rose that was already in place when we moved here over 40 years ago.

Loved that Linaria. Had to order Linaria "Northern Lights" from T & M 'cos you can never have too much Linaria in the border,
          can you?

Linaria is correct, I think Sheal ID'd this for me previously. It's a lot smaller then a Snap Dragon and came as part of a wildflower packet, one of the first to flower.[/

Jools, shiney, HuSH, love the poppies!
            And the hanging baskets...
And Kristen's skill to 'exclude' the odd colour from the pictures...
And simbad's garden as a holistic experience...
            :biggrin::blue thumb: :wub2:

I got up at 4 am this morning to finish an extra job by 8 am Friday, and... here I am, indulging myself in flower forums and milk chocolate by noon.

I can't resist the urge. Now the garden...

This is what came out as a result of my first planning effort (until now I was just 'growing plants'). I'm aware that colours will clash when cosmos flowers profusely. I meant to shied it off by a line of a very tall and handsome variety of pompon-shaped vanilla tagetes, which I had last year, but... it was an F1 hybrid, so it decomposed genetically (if that's the correct way to say it :dunno:). Now it's pure orange. ;)

I wish I would lay out this bed differently every year.:heehee:

                Hi there Angelina :dancy: ,
nice to see you on this fabulous thread. Your garden is looking really good this July and I think all your flowers are in peaceful harmony with the others in the same bed.
Personally, I can't get my head around this "themed colour approach". Just a cottagey garden full of colour suits me fine.
Can we have some more views please?

And... I will soon be heading into the 'hydrangea wave'. Not advertising, but the lens cover was the only 'scale' measurement I had at the moment.

Hydrangea quercifolia blooming for the first time, but obviously being attacked by 'grazing slugs' or grasshoppers. It's bending and soft like a grape vine.

Only just saw this Kristen - I just store them dry over the winter. Had one slightly deformed bloom early in the season and had given up on the rest truth be told.
