Its a dome shape and about a metre wide. It sends out straggly bits (more attractively than I've made it sound!) but you could easily cut them off if they get in the way. I think its nice the way it aggressively grows "into" its neighbours, but it depends what you put it next - needs to be something taller otherwise it will get swamped as it is vigorous.

Dunno if it roots from runner, but given how easy it is to propagate if any sprawling branches touch the ground then they could root - particularly if they got covered with soil. Don't think mine have though, they are still the clumps that I originally planted.

Here's a couple of photos of mime Sheal. The 1st photo is of a clump in it's 2nd year. It was probably about 5 or 6 rooted bits. It isn't even a ft square so not what I'd call a thug. I don't know about Kristen but I can assure you I don't have shares in this plant :loll: just think it should be more widely used, perhaps it isn't because of it has a hellish "cousin"?!

Picture 087.jpg Picture 085.jpg Picture 066.jpg Picture 090.jpg The other photos are of my 1st to flower Lily and celebrations the 1st flower EVER on my Intersectional Peony. I was moaning here on GC not long ago about having had the Peony for 3 years and not a sign of a flower. What was wrong was my patience levels!! It has about 10 buds and the flowers are the most glorious yellow, almost neon and remind me of a slightly darker colour to lemon sorbet icecream. The photo doesn't do the colour justice. My plant has bulked up quite well so not quite sure why they are so expensive to buy or were when I bought my 1....accent on the 1!

silu what is the plant in the second photo please? The one with the pink fluffy looking flowers on long stems. Love the colour and general look of them. Very nice. :)

Fern4 the plant is Burnet (posh name Sanguisorba), very common or garden (lol) but I like it. Asks for nothing and doesn't need staking, a pet hate of mine. Only snag is flopsies seem to like it VERY MUCH! I got a bit from a friend and then have divided it over the years. Think it can be grown from seed so I could try collecting some for you if you like.

It is quite easy from seed I grew some a couple of years ago flowering for the first time this year ,agree with silu lovely plant and seems to have been flowering for ages, I also grew a white one from seed Sanguisorba Tenuifolia 'Alba' that gets to 4-5ft its not flowering yet but here's a picture from last year, I'll try to remember to collect seed for the seed swap if you like it Fern4 ;)

                  Blooming good Sprekelia!

Are yours in pots? Plunged in beds, or just containers on the terrace / greenhouse?

Presumably any pots can just be left bone dry over winter?

I still have a few Aquilegias in flower - I guess these are a late variety. They were moved whilst in flower!!
