Lovely Carnations Anthony :) I have a list of ones which I plan to get next year - they were my Grandad's favourite flower so I'm giving them a go.

blackberry beauty. also grown for its winter interest, as the pods open and hold /cradle shiny black seeds all winter in them.

Over the years I have let them just reseed as they wish, they do drop seeds down during the winter, early spring. and I do harvest some seeds to mail out to friends in March. When the babies come up, in little spear shapes resembling right away their adults, they do not bloom the first season, but the second, so an ongoing crop is necessary. the other thing I have noticed is the babies are very shallow rooted, and easy to accidently to come out of the soil, so when I can, I gently lift the baby and put it back in just a little deeper, not much. and as you can see the weight of the pods can play havoc on the plant, so I do use a thin green stake to help them keep standing with soft twine in two to three locations up the plant. many are close to each other, so I can use one stake for two to three plants

                    Hi Redstar,

                    Thanks for the link.
I'm gonna have to have a look for it now " Iris Domestica ".

I thought it was in that family as it reminds me of the Tigridia Pavona that I grow.
