After a burst of growth and colour in the spring, being on dry sandy soil means that my garden doesn't always look its best in mid summer. There's still a bit going on here and there though.

Fuchsia 'Mrs Popple' happy in a large pot outside the kitchen window.

A good crop of berries this year on this native honeysuckle growing on a piece of trellis - should be appreciated by the birds. :)

Self-seeded Rudbeckia growing in the veg patch.

      Fennel.

Another self-seeder, this colourful sunflower turned up in a corner of the veg patch, glad I left it there.

Due to our imminent house move, I stopped planting things in the veg patch about a month ago. With half of this plot empty, nature has filled in the gap for me. So alongside the runners and courgettes I now have sunflowers, teasels and evening primrose putting on a show.

      Knapweed in the wild area.

Oregano in the herb patch, plenty of flower on it this year.

      DSC09593.JPG

Potentilla 'Primrose Beauty', a reliable little shrub even in the driest of summers.

      DSC09594.JPG

      Cornus alba elegantissima.

      DSC09595.JPG

Bit of an experiment - I had a few hyssop plants going spare so I planted them in a pot around this heuchera. Looks better from above really, looks a bit odd from any other angle. :noidea:

This is an old favourite of mine but alas Mrs Woo insists that it is a weed and keeps pulling it up:heehee:

Just start using the seeds in your cooking and she'll change her mind. Excellent in baked beans and tomato sauces.

Roders your garden looks so immaculate. I took a picture of mine from an upstairs room but the tree canopy obscured it. The path is new - I decided to dig up the lawn to get more plants in. P1000310.jpg

Best of all it appears pretty hardy. When I re-pot it I'll take a division to try it in the ground.
