IMG_2342.JPG Grass cut and noticed Sanguisorba has dried out after being soaked earlier today. This is 150 cm tall and everyone seems to like it. Loads of flowers to come :)

Hi Verdun , how big are the flowers on the sanguisorba ? They look quite large compared to other variety's. Is it squirrel lilac as well?

Hello Perki, yes Lilac Squirrel. Large fluffy flowers .....not as fluffy today cos they were hit with a downpour earlier.....but prob 5 to 6".
I think all the sanguisorbas are under valued and under used plants......I have them here flowering now for several weeks :)

Hi noisette, no, it's not, but I can see why you would think it might be, Strangely enough, I have been contemplating growing some. It's one of several varieties of Gladioli of which I don't grow a lot but these seem to be quite happy in my soil.:coffee::snorky: I do like this particular variety as it really stands out in the surrounding mass of green.:snorky:

A few splashes of summer colour around my garden this evening.

I quite like this sunflower which popped up in a corner of the veg patch, glad I left it there. :)

                        DSC09603.JPG

A couple of self-seeded rudbeckias have appeared in another part of the veg plot, in amongst the sweet corn and squashes, doing quite well left to their own devices.

Here's a close up of the other one, just visible in the background on the photo above.

This campanula has surprised me by producing a second flush of flowers, having already flowered earlier in the summer during the hot, dry spell. I guess the recent rain has encouraged it to flower again. Works quite well with the fatsia as a backdrop.
