Hmm.... you could have a point there @Sheal. I think at the moment though my soil here might be too dry...it's like rock ( we're on clay here). Not sure if the young roots would be able to expand and make any headway through it.
Oh...did you mean use garden soil in the pots instead of compost? I initially thought you were suggesting on planting them out into the border.

Yes soil in pots sounds good...trouble is whether or not to risk it as I now only have 2 plants left.....a bit of a dilemma. I 'll have to sleep on it I think.

@Upsydaisy is picture no 4 clary?
If so did you grow it as a biennial or an annual.
I remember growing that years ago and it formed an amazing short lived hedge.
But tried it a few years later and it was very weedy.

Beautiful Upsy and I like the new Avatar. Now you can sit and relax and enjoy all the pain and suffering with the knee and back. Easy coasting time.

I think it comes under that name....I just sowed these earlier this year. I have several clumps of it dotted around the garden and it looks OK....to me.;)

Just a little watering & a few photos taken was all I did yesterday & a few more photos this morning. Checked on the toms & they are good to go with several of the sideshoots becoming as thick as the main stem! :)
