It's Thunbergia @Victoria, an annual but quick growing once it gets some heat!

That surprised me @shiney, I grow several Miscanthus varieties, including Zebra grass, and, like you, have never seen any pollinators visiting as they don't produce nectar or pollen.

Pruning your bamboo is going to be a tedious task, I'd pace yourself or invite visitors to have a go .

You'll have to trade some of your heat for some rain @Victoria! Maybe you could encourage it with a mulch? It definitely likes heat as it remained in suspended animation here from April until early July when it started to warm up, a bit!

That's too hot for me, even after 10 years in the Caribbean! You could try one in a container, this one's going mad:

What does it think of climate change as I'm wondering whether it is related to Greta. :roflol:

I hope it’s not related @shiney. If it develops a haunted doll expression it will be swiftly transported to the compost bin using very few air miles .

This is the closest I am ever likely to get to a blue hydrangea. :dbgrtmb: I think all the rainfall has helped this yr. Normally it is pink, but mauve and a hint of blue predominate at the moment.

Thank you @Perki. I put the Hakonechloa there to bind the soil on the bank and prevent it washing down onto the steps and also to stop the birds throwing soil onto the steps while searching for worms. It works on both counts, and looks good too :).

The beds around our main front lawn don't have much colour this time of year but last month and late August and September it colours up again

The two patches are where I rather overenthusiastically removed some moss.

The big shrub just to the right of the building is Lonicera baggesen's gold. We have had it for a long time but it, now, grows much too quickly and takes up too much time keeping it cut.
It grew almost 3ft in the last four weeks! So shall have to go. That will have to go on the bonfire heap.
