What's Looking Good in July 2024

Mine are crowded @fairygirl, another case of overplanting , but that hasn't stopped them flowering. I think it's the wet cold over winter that could be affecting yours (another Goldilocks plant - wet but not too wet!)

 

Some views around the garden today.

 

Well I would say that our morning glory plants are looking good today. They are flowering with a lovely deep blue. BUT....they don't seem to be climbing this year. Don't know why. All the flowers are at the bottom. Strange.

 

Are they setting seed, if so they might have just decided they have done their job for this year.

 

@pete No they have only just started flowering. So late as this seems to be the same with many of our plants this year.

Pink perfection lilly, the scent is amazing.

 

Yes I grew some of those, they are pretty much over now. I cut a couple to bring indoors and really appreciate the scent and I've got the last one in a vase by my shoulder right now.

Another lovely day! The Platycodon looks a very bright white in the front of a sunny border.

My favourite bits of the garden in summer. This side's a 'work in progress' thanks to removal of the Erythrina x Bidwillii. Gloriosa rothschildiana going on the wall and Sesbania to replace the schezuan pepper.

Is that Sesbania going to survive the winter

The Brachychiton is in a fairly small pot, been in it for years, I think it just flowers because it hasn't got enough root space to do anything else, gets put in the garage overwinter and left dry.

 

I was going to ask you that! Caesalpinia, hardy Gardenia, tuberous Begonias and Jacobinia all survive OK. It will benefit from the thick mulch that the Gloriosa will be getting....
