Wow, Bob, those look lovely. I love the Lucifer, it´s one of the few scarlet flowers that I really adore. If someone has a spare clump.... :D

Strongy, the sunflower became even darker after I took the picture. It is still very beautiful, it´s lasting and lasting, and most of the plants resisted very well to the horrid winds of this week. A real discovery for me!

I could like it: the garden here is huge and still plenty and plenty of space to fill... if it has to go, it would be very welcome here! :)

I never had these, so I am really not sure about the best time for lifting. I am sure that some good person here will give advice on this.

My address is on the way, and very many thanks as well!

Lovely pics UJH, the 3rd one is gorgeous. Is it a petunia? if so what kind? I wouldn't mind giving that one a whirl next year. 02

UJH, that double Petunia is wonderful ... I love them but they don't do well in the heat here .... what does is this ...

Bougainvillea (on the left) marrying into the Nerium (Oleander) on the right....

.... and here's a close up of the Oleander .... it has such a soft perfumed scent in the heat ....

My Cannas are starting to bloom but I'll give them a couple of days before I show them. :)

Thank`s for going to the trouble of posting the pic bobj. And yes you explained very well.
My problem with this plant is i never know when it`s gonna stop flowering. So,i`m never sure when to cut it back.Last yr,not 100% sure but i think into Nov and still flowering.I`m very wary about cutting plants back as i nearly always kill them.:o(i`m not dramatising-i really do)
So this is the plant now.I know it doesn`t look very tidy but i really had to tie it back....

Aren`t they smashing plants Bob.I could`ve bought as many as i fancied a couple of weeks back at the market for £1 each but didn`t as i don`t have room really. In my little garden i have mainstays like lavender and crocosmia but just the one penstomen (and i didn`t know it until i enquired as to what it was here on GC last yr).
Anyway, you`ve made it a bit clearer.
Is that a spirea at the back?I have one in a pot and got flowers last yr but no look this time.Should i have cut it back also?

Interesting bob, as I have tried penstemons and always though of then as thin weedy plants, but yours look really strong.
I guess I always expected too much too early.:)
