They like really hot dry spells to flower well, I find.
Stingo, yes, a photo to be proud of!

Another bottle brush, this time Callistemon Citrinus Splendens which has had a poor show this year unlike all the others, the brush is normally longer but it is still a "splendid" flower.

Got any idea what one this is strongy, as you can see it has a weeping habit and narrow pointed leaves a bit prickly.

I saw one a bit lie this at a nursery today, and felt tempted, but it said they did not like alkaline soil, so left it alone.

    they are so tempting!

yes middle picture, "Day Lillies" you get one flower every day, but it only lasts for a day. Loads of them are orange, but that is a lovely colour. I will try to remember to post mine and you can compare.

From a quick scan, it looks like bottle brushes are tender - is that right? They look amazing to grow, and I have the right kind of soil, but probably not the right position :(

Tigridia Pavonia again, another plain one. I'm confused, I've never had plain ones before.
I took this picture at 11 in the morning, it was already wilting! Just like Morning Glory. It has been hot today.

Pete yours is the most popular one which is usually sold as Rigidus but used to be sold as Linearis. Strangely enough it's the one I don't have. I have some seeds drying out now.
DIHG, as Liz says they are not tender but some are more hardy than others. Pete's one is hardy nearly everywhere and so are the two yelow ones Salignus and Pallidus. Their main requirement is a sunny position and are not normally fusy about soil.

This is a plant which I bought at a plant sale earlier in the year which has now flowered. I absolutely love it. There is an abundance of flowers just now. Really quite striking.

I even found a self sown seedling of mine, does that mean its naturalised. :D
I though it would be the common one. :D Thanks for the name. I think it is very hardy, but suprised to find that the two yellow ones are hardy, perhaps its about time the garden centres found out about them. [IMG]

Sorry but I don't have a name and I have posted previously asking for help in identification but at that time there were no flowers, so I'm hoping now that it has flowered there'll be someone out there who can help!!
