    whirlymix, try looking at Lychnis X arkwrightii "Vesuvius"

    Thats the one definately, so they 'self seed' is that another way of saying they multiply? Mine is in a pot but if I move it to the soil, will it spread? I really do love the striking flowers. The more the merrier!!

      Thanks Liz, no that one isn't but most of the rest are and all the more apricot coloured ones are facing downwards! Perhaps I should try proping them up to take a pic.? :D

      whirlimix - mine did not self seed, I forgot I even had it until I saw your post. It gave a good display for a few years then died. Probably the flood got it.

      Anyway today "HE " has departed to outer Hebrides for a week and has left his visa card, so off I trotted to local nursery, I two wheel barrows full of plants and got change from �£35, anyway one of the plants was the Lychnis X which cost me all of 40p!
