You beat me to it Gardenangel, mine is Florida Sieboldii, I bought this one last year after loosing the previous one, I kept it in the greenhouse over winter because they are not frost hardy, I keep it in a pot so it's easier to move.

This one is Victoria I think

They are both very nice Clematisis girls but I have the open shape, Just had a real fancy for the bell shaped ones like fairy bonnets after seeing them in the garden centre. ;)

With the recent heatwave, me being on holiday and the hose pipe ban, plants in the garden are behaving in different ways.

The gunnera is not a fan of hot dry sunny weather.

The ligularia is flagging but soldiering on, whilst the pond has evaporated about 8", and is a pea soup colour.

Even the cayenne peppers are struggling.

I have a feeling the plumerias were allowed to dry out while I was away.

The yucca is sprouting all around the topand up the stem.

The oleander always has flower buds but they rarely open.

    The geraniums love it.

The 3 goodies I bought home from Spain in their new homes.

Very depressing Rich - feel for you. I have planted 90% of my garden for flood conditions, so don't know what I would do if I had hosepipe ban.

    :( Oh Rich,
I think most of our gardens are suffering, but I think you take the biscuit mate.... It is lovely to see the Oleander in flower & the Yucca being productive.. It's the pond area.... That must be so hard to have to look at each day, knowing what it was like last year & in the spring.... [IMG] I love to bring goodies home from holiday though too.... :D

Hi Rich - I thought you were still allowed to fill ponds up in a hose pipe ban? Looking on the website, if you have fish, you can but if it's ornamental, you can't! :D

    Hi Suedoble

It seems I am lucky, I don't have a greenhouse, but keep mine on the patio near the house, in fact I cut it right back in spring as I only had one strong stem, and kept my fingers crossed  Anyway it sprouted seven stems and is now flowering profusely.

Rick - have you not got a UV on your filter? It helps to have one in the fight against green water!!

know what you are going through,
at least your Ligularia is looking better than mine.

Can't remember what this is supposed to be

    Weigela's wilting

Plants around the pond have seen better days.

I have been filling my pond up and have been watering my pots and tubs with a watering can, bloody hard work but they are "hanging on in there"

If we don't get enough rain soon they are talking of putting a drought order in operation, really in trouble if that happens.

Rich, I think the Oleander and Yucca are telling you something here! [IMG] It looks like you've brought a Lampranthus back from Spain ... the European version of the English Hottentot whatever!

Sue, how sad! :( On the plus side, your baskets look lovely and you can keep them going from your kitchen sink. [IMG]

I have filled the pond. I took that picture on Monday as I only returned from holiday on Sunday.

The row of dahlias I planted in front of the conservatory look slightly wilted, but the flowers go crunchy before they open properly.

The new portulacas seem to like it though.

Hey guys, anyone mind if I use some of these fantastic pix to copy in coloured pencil? I'm learning to be a botanical artist and these are just irresistible! I'll acknowledge the source of the originals, of course.
