I've mislead you, Kristen. This is ixia maculata. A Bulgarian forum mate had sent some bulbs together with seeds and I've completely forgotten where I had planted them. (The whole thing is getting out of control, I'll tag them tomorrow.) :snork:

Glad you got it pegged. I didn't think the flowers looked quite right for Schizostylis, but I've only got one so I didn't want to make myself look foolish!

Angelina, my Ixias have only just produced buds and are way behind yours, mind you it still seems like early Spring here, Summer hasn't arrived so some plants are late.

Longk, I cannot see your last two salvia pics.
I sowed impatiens balfourii this season directly outdoors, but nothing germinated. I collected the seeds last year from some pots downtown, where it seemed to have self-seeded profusely.

And dracunclus, wow, I saw one for the first time at a local nursery where we gathered to celebrate the 6th birthday of our Bulgarian forum. :)

        Goodness, how this stinks!

As long as it's a dry day it should only stink for one or two days. It emits that smell to attract flies when it needs pollinating. Once pollinated the smell should stop. :dbgrtmb:

This is one for the boffins! I can see them fine unless I browse incognito - then those two disappear and the others become thumbnails.

When did you sow them? they need a period of cold stratification to germinate.

            Cool isn't it!!!!

Mine were put in a bag in the fridge for six weeks - they started to germinate about a month after taking them out of the fridge.
