It's only the first day of the astrological summer today "M", Midsummer day is a corruption of Midsummers Eve which was a Pagan celebration of the start of the sun moving back into the southern (or if you live in the southern hemisphere, northern) hemisphere.

Which is basically what I said @Anthony Rogers  - or, in common parlance: downhill all the way from tonight onwards :heehee:

Nahh "M", it's only downhill in the length of actual daylight hours. In terms of temperature etc we actually peak at around four to six weeks from now.

This is our first proper sign that summer is here. The first of what appears to be hundreds of Passion Flowers
                      P1240071.JPG

Campanula have spread like wildfire throughout the garden. A lot of whites and a whole variety of tones of blue/purple

                      P1240079.JPG

Bronze Fennel is a bit slow this year but is now coming along
                      P1240083.JPG

There are hundreds of bees on this Cistus
                      P1240081.JPG

and the honey on the Euphorbia behind it also draws the bees (and @Jenny namaste :heehee:)
                      P1240082.JPG

The Phlomis alongside will also draw bees in quantity but the petals are still a bit tight for them to get inside. They'll be ready by the weekend
                      P1240080.JPG

On the other side of the Cistus the Aruncus and Elderberry are competing with it for whiteness

                      P1240093.JPG

The wild poppies are still only just beginning to flower in the bed by the road. (Note To Self: time to cut the laurel)
                      P1240087.JPG

Penstemons are just starting (I think we have about a dozen varieties but I sometimes confuse them for other plants  )

And the big ones are starting to flower too

Flowers on the male asparagus (this one is doing particularly well this year. I think it may have had some help :heehee:)

                        P1240090.JPG

Part of the new bed - now growing well (not bad for three months old)
                        P1240094.JPG

Lychnis - white and cerise varieties - run wild in our veg plot. Behind them are (right hand side of picture) Stachys are only just starting to bloom (we'll have the happy buzz of bees soon) and behind and to the left the golden feverfew is in flower. Behind that are Artichokes.
